Check out the 2009 abundant offerings at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, a 150-acre Mediterranean garden presenting programs, camps, workshops and more. Read what they have to say for themselves and get green.
 
Saturday at the Garden: Second Saturday of each month is a public program at 1 p.m. There is a $3 fee for members and a $5 fee for non-members. The docent-led tour follows at 2 p.m. and plants are for sale.
 
School tours: Free tours are available to school groups and other youth organizations. Membership and volunteers: Become a member of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden. You’ll receive our monthly newsletter, discounts on all our programs, a free plant coupon from our nursery, and e-mail notices of events.

Children’s docent training: In order to provide these free school tours, we need volunteers to help. Our next four-week training session will be Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26 on Thursday afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m.

Garden gateways—Join a 45-minute presentation on the Big Vision for the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden. Call 541-1400 Ext. 303 to reserve a date: Feb. 4, 6 and 14 at various times.

Raffle for British garden tour for two, April 13-22. Five hundred tickets are on sale to send two people to Cornwall’s annual Spring Garden Festival (approximate value: $8,320.00) To purchase tickets at $100 each, call 541-1400 Ext. 302. Raffle tickets will be
available until March 1.
 
At home in the garden, May 2-16: Landscape and flower show, Taste of the Future dinner, Mother’s Day brunch, and programs for children and adults.
 
Family Camp, Aug. 10-14: A culinary camp with an outdoor kitchen area for kids and guest chefs who will share recipes from the Mediterranean cuisine.
 
The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is located in El Chorro Regional Park across the street from Cuesta College, featuring plants from the five Mediterranean climate regions of the world as well as sustainable building and landscape practices that will lead us into a greener future.
