Ah, classical music. The soaring strings, the climactic concertos, the arresting arpeggios—it’s a great time and so is Festival Mozaic, one of the premiere outfit for classical music on the Central Coast.

Typically, the festival takes place during the summer. But you’re in luck. For the past few years, the festival has sponsored their WinterMezzo series, which features the same high-quality performances, lectures, and encounters over two weekends in November and February. This November, you can hear three works from three incredible composers—Beethoven, Mozart, and Shostakovich. Under the direction of virtuouso violinist Scott Yoo, a small group of musicians will be playing Beethoven’s “Duet for Two Eyeglasses Obligato,” Mozart’s “String Quartet in D minor, K. 421,” and “String Quartet No. 14 in F# minor, op. 142.”

WinterMezzo takes place throughout the weekend of Nov. 14 to Nov. 16. That Friday, you can hear an in-depth explanation/performance of the three works at the SLO Botanical Garden at 5:30 p.m. For a more intimate experience, you can attend a Notable Encounter Dinner on Nov. 15, at a private Avila Beach home. On. Nov. 16, you can hear the full concert at the United Methodist Church in SLO at 3 p.m. Ticket prices range from $25 to $125. For more info, visit festivalmozaic.com.
