As water levels get lower and lower across California, concern over a lack of water rises higher and higher.
The current ongoing drought inspired local photographer Brittany Anzel App to want to create her first documentary film project, Where There Once Was Water, which will discuss the current water crisis and focus on solutions for a sustainable future.
In order to raise funds for the project, App launched a Kickstarter.com campaign with a goal of getting $25,000. Contributions can be made for the project through March 6. And this is an all-or-nothing deal; either App raises all $25,000 or she gets to keep none of the money for the project.
App, who grew up in Los Osos, is an award-winning photographer with a history of water activism. In 2010, she pedaled a bicycle across the country to raise money for WaterAid, and in 2014, she went viral on YouTube with her “Five Gallon Challenge.”
Backers of the project will receive perks ranging from a download of the film to a private screening or concert. Visit wherethereoncewaswater.com for more information.
