This year, SLO Regional Rideshare has partnered with the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival to present the inaugural SLO Green Shorts Festival, an event created to inspire creative filmmaking on the subjects of sustainability and green living.
Screening on Sunday, March 11, at 2 p.m., at Downtown Centre Cinemas, this program includes shorts of one to two minutes in length from the 2011 Santa Barbara Green Shorts Festival, as well as selections from SLO County filmmakers of all ages. (If you’re the last-minute type, submissions close Friday, March 2, at 4 p.m. For more info, rules, or to submit, visit slogreenshorts.org. Films selected will be eligible for screening at the Santa Barbara Green Shorts Festival, and the winning films receive cash prizes or gift certificates. But hurry!)
“Green Shorts is an annual film festival about saving our planet, helping our environment and being green,” according to press materials. “Suggested topics include entertaining or funny commentaries on sustainable living, eating and growing local food, sustainable transportation, energy independence and a green conscious future.”
