Well, here in Artifacts, I’ve already told you about the SLO Little Theatre’s and Performing Arts Center’s upcoming 2013-2014 seasons. So I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the Clark Center, who just announced their upcoming fall/winter lineup. Located in Arroyo Grande, the Clark Center has become known for its musical acts (with emphasis on country and Western, blues, folk, and tribute acts) and family-friendly shows, but they’ve also played host to acrobats, standup comedians, and theatrical performances. 

This season opens with the return of the wonderful Gregory Popovich and The World Famous Comedy Pet Theatre, with two shows on Saturday, Oct. 19. Popovich’s animal show is hilarious and adorable, and what’s more, all of the dog and cat performers you’ll see onstage are rescued from animal shelters. Popovich, himself a former juggler and clown with the Moscow Circus, builds his show off of the natural habits of his furry costars, turning their favorite games into “tricks.” (Check him out on YouTube.) The show sold out last time, so get your tickets early. 

The comedy continues with “Sister Strikes Again! Late Night Catechism 2,” a sequel to last year’s sell-out show “Late Nite Catechism.” Catch two shows on Nov. 2.

A series of musical acts sees you through to January, starting with The Kingston Trio on Nov. 16. Riders in the Sky will present a holiday show with a country twang, called “The Riders in the Sky present Christmas the Cowboy Way,” on Dec. 20. 

January brings two tribute acts: “Country Royalty: A Tribute to Hank Williams and Patsy Cline” on Jan. 11 and “In My Life: A Musical Tribute to the Beatles” on Jan. 29.

The Peking Acrobats have become Clark Center regulars, and they’ll be back Jan. 29. February brings two very different musical performances: Celtic Nights on Feb. 6 and neo-folk band The Duhks on Feb. 15. 

Come springtime, the Clark Center will be host to “The Official Blues Brothers Revue,” “An Evening with Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen,” and “The Four Bitchin’ Babes present Mid Life Vices.”
