Summer may still be clinging to its last few weeks of life, but the Central Coast Natural History Association already wants you to start thinking about next year.

- BY THE SEA : The Central Coast Natural History Association is unveiling its new calendar, so all you get to see for now is the cover.
# The group is prepared to unveil its latest creation: a 2008 calendar, featuring the work of local photographers who captured state park landscapes, activities, plants, and animals from Pismo to Morro Bay to Monta"a de Oro.
Featured photographers who donated their work include Bill Bouton, Karen Peterson, Richard Hansen, Lynda Roeller, David Bowlus, Les Christiansen, Kathy Cohen, Jon-Michael Basile, Ruth Ann Angus, Peggy Jansson, Marlin Harms, Patrice Rowe, and Mike Baird. Tom Wahweotten's work is on the cover.
The 2008 calendar makes its public debut on Aug. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History's auditorium. The event is open to the public, and will feature wine and hors d'oeuvres, as well as photographers signing their work.
Starting Aug. 24, the calendar will be available at all Central Coast Natural History Association nature stores, as well as at certain local businesses. You'll be paying what works out to $1.25 per month: The calendar costs $15, tax included. All proceeds benefit education programs in local state parks.
