Less than a week after he started work, the recently hired interim general manager for the California Valley Community Services District submitted his letter of resignation.

Whether he’s actually resigned, however, is still a matter of discussion. Two representatives with the CSD confirmed that John Eulberg was hired July 29, but submitted a letter of resignation on Aug. 5. The CSD hasn’t accepted Eulberg’s resignation and is urging him to reconsider.

Eulberg replaced former General Manager Sharee Washer, who resigned after serving in the position for nine years.

As an interim general manager, Eulberg was hired with the expectation that he would be in the office one day per week. When contacted by phone, Eulberg said he resigned once he realized he’d have to be in the office more than he was willing to commit.

“The best that you can say is that they need a general manager that is there, if they are going to continue doing things they way they are doing them,” he said. “I just didn’t feel I could fit the bill.”
