NEW TIMES Who is your customer base for computer instruction?

SMITH I typically teach seniors throughout San Luis Obispo County the basics of managing and using a personal computer; however, I also teach anyone who is in need of instruction on how to operate and get the most out of their PC.

NEW TIMES What are some of the skills that you teach?

SMITH I want to instruct people on how to confidently utilize their computers in order to access the web, manage word processing, and organize media. Many seniors today didn’t grow up around computers, and trying to understand how to use them can be quite intimidating, so I want to bring an ease and comfort to others so they can have access to all the convenience that today’s younger, more computer-savvy generation has. I’ll typically assess what each individual might know about their computer and build a training regimen from there. There is no reason that seniors shouldn’t have the luxury of today’s technology within their grasp, and that’s what I hope to teach.

NEW TIMES When can people attend these classes?

SMITH People can call me or e-mail me to request time for one-on-one computer classes. I’m teaching Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The classes are completely free, and if you have any questions in regard to troubleshooting, feel free to contact me at 543-1963 or e-mail me at [email protected].
