Jamie Bell: SLO Blues Baseball Club

comment

NEW TIMES When do the Blues kick off their season?

BELL The season opener is going to be May 24 at home against the Cal Poly club team. The first pitch is at 6 p.m.

NEW TIMES How are the players preparing for the season?

BELL A lot of the players won’t get here until after their college season is over. So I guess they’re preparing by playing for their schools. A lot of them are in college out in Texas, Tennessee, and other states.

NEW TIMES How have they been doing the last few years?

BELL They have tied for the CCL (California Collegiate League) Championships with the Santa Barbara Foresters the last two years.

NEW TIMES Are there any returning players from last year’s roster?

BELL So far I’ve only seen two that are returning, and that’s Nick Slair and Taylor Anderson.

NEW TIMES Are there any special events planned?

BELL We are planning on having three fireworks nights on May 25, July 3, and July 26. We’re also going to be having tons of promotional giveaways at all of the games. We’re going to give away T-shirts, mini-bats, baseball hats, and about 100 bottles of Bon Temps hot sauce on one night. Most of the promotional events are on the website under the links for the 2013 schedule.

NEW TIMES How much are tickets to the games?

BELL Kids 12 and under are always free. General admission is $5, and fireworks nights are $10 per adult.

NEW TIMES Where can people buy tickets?

BELL We just partnered with the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande. People can go through our website; there’s a link to the Clark Center’s website, and they can buy tickets there or buy them at their box office in Arroyo Grande.

NEW TIMES What is the best day to come out to the park?

BELL A best day? Every day, of course. Opening night will be a lot of fun, and all the fireworks nights are going to be a blast. Fingers crossed they go through. I’m going to be there every night!

NEW TIMES What’s your favorite ballpark food?

BELL Definitely hot dogs. I never eat hot dogs, but when I’m at a baseball game, I just have to have one.
