The San Luis Obispo Police Department announced on Nov. 14 that it is investigating two separate attempted sexual assault cases that appear to have been committed by the same person. The suspect in both cases attacked women who were walking alone in residential neighborhoods.

The first woman was assaulted at around 10:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Albert Street. According to the police, she was walking to a friend's house when the suspect placed her in a headlock from behind. She screamed and fought him off, causing him to run from the area.

Almost two hours later, at about 12:05 a.m., a second woman was attacked, this time in the 600 block of Grove Street. She was attacked while walking her dog, but was able to scream and fight the suspect off, according to the police. Again, he ran and wasn't apprehended.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years old, approximately 5-foot-8-inches tall, with a thin build. He has brown eyes, short brown hair, and was clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a beige baseball hat, blue jeans, and a medium-colored zip-up sweatshirt with lighter-colored sleeves.

Neither victim was injured during the assaults. The police think it likely that the same suspect assaulted both women because of the similarities in the victims' descriptions of the man and the way in which they were attacked. The police stated that they aren't releasing certain details because this is an active investigation with an outstanding suspect.
