Two top-ranked downhill bikers penned their intent on June 26 to compete in the 2006 Mountain Biking Professional Championships to take place July 8 in San Luis Obispo. Top-ranked female downhill racer Jill Kintner and No. 2 male athlete Michal Prokop will compete in the event, according to organizers for the Jeep King of the Mountain series.

Both racers will look to defend their titles from last year’s Jeep series. Local professional cyclist Travis Collins will also vie for the $100,000 pot.
 
The Madonna Inn will play host to the race, which will follow a trail down the face of nearby Cerro San Luis.
