SWAT team involved in SLO standoff

comment

The San Luis Obispo Police Department SWAT team was dispatched when a woman called 911 on Aug 2 at 11:39 a.m. The women abruptly hung up the phone, so the dispatcher called the number back. A man answered and hung up. On the second callback, the woman answered again, telling the dispatcher that a man was with her who had a weapon and she was not all right. The phone went dead after the dispatcher asked if the weapon was a gun.

Police officers responded to the house at 630 Perkins Lane. The officers surrounded the house and evacuated neighbors. After almost two hours of being surrounded by police and SWAT, the man, Ronald Frank Gupton Sr., 57, released the 27-year-old woman to the police and surrendered.

Gupton was arrested and booked for delaying and obstructing police officers for more than two hours. No gun was found. No one was injured.
