The New Times staff would like to express our sadness and horror over the Jan. 7 attack on the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, in Paris. Our thoughts are with the 12 journalists and police officers murdered in the attack. At the same time, we would caution against assigning blame to a single religion. While we must defend ourselves against zealotry in all its shapes and colors, an ignorant and barbaric attack on freedom of speech and press should and must not inspire further acts of barbarism and ignorance. Stephane Charbonnier, Cabu, Tignous, Wolinski, and all the victims who remain unnamed as yet, may you rest in peace.
