Thanks for the straight dope on Armenia

comment

Re: Straight Dope by Cecil Adams, "What genocide?" May 19-26: Thank you! What a well-written piece. Thank you for publishing this. I cannot tell you how many times I have to explain what an Armenian is, where Armenia is, and most importantly how I can be Armenian if I was born in some random country in the Middle East.

I do want to clarify one thing. There is a lot of literature out there written and published by non-Armenian and non-Turkish sources that documents the Armenian Genocide. I can give you a few examples, but if anyone is interested please e-mail me and I can provide more!

Bryce, Viscount. The Treatment of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, 1915-1916. London, UK: Sir Joseph Causton and Sons, 1916.

Morgenthau, Henry. Ambassador Morgenthau's Story. Garden City, NY: New Age Pub. (reprt) Doubleday, Page Co., 1918 1919.

Peter Jennings and ABC News also covered the Armenian Genocide on the series "The Century." There was also a movement to include the Armenian Genocide as part of the California High School curriculum. Here is a great link with all that information:

www.teachgenocide.org.

Once again, thank you, but know that the information out there isn't only of Armenian sources or Turkish sources. And also know that the even Turkish sources validate the Armenian Genocide.
