If you haven’t seen, Laguna Lake is all dried up. It looks like the movie Fantasia with cracks in the bottom of the lake bed. All that’s missing is the dinosaurs’ falling over dead from no water.

Most of the Canada geese have flown away and hopefully the ones remaining will do the same. There are, however, approximately 15 ducks that can’t fly away and will die without water or feed.

Fish and Game won’t let one move them to another spot (with water) as they say they could not be re-introduced to the lake after (hopefully) the rains. Makes one wonder how would you attempt to re-introduce them when they are dead? The city of SLO, as usual, has its head up its bureaucratic ass. They will send trucks to water the trees around the park, but won’t provide water for the ducks.

So it’s up to any who may be concerned to help them. One good resident at the lake fills a container of water down by the shore that they may drink. I provided (as did someone else) a plastic wading pool and hauled some water so they could get wet. Someone has provided feed. A couple more plastic wading pools would be good (they’re inexpensive at Kmart), and folks to haul and change water. Perhaps you sphincters who are still watering your lawns might consider trading in your lawns to save some ducks, but I won’t hold my breath waiting for you.

It’s a sad sight folks!
