Celebrate Central Coast landscapes with the legendary Plein Air festival Sept. 29 through Oct. 5, all over SLO County.

Sept. 29 to Oct. 2: Art appreciators and collectors watch festival artists as they paint the landscapes, cityscapes, and seascapes of San Luis Obispo County. The San Luis Obispo Art Center is festival headquarters all week, offering painting maps and helpful information to festival-goers.

Sept. 30: Festival artists install their works in the Art Center galleries during Festival Week. Enjoy the visuals of colorful palettes and diverse styles exhibited by this year’s artists. Works are for sale.

Oct. 1: Today is Paint SLO Day. The Festival artists will be painting within the city limits of San Luis Obispo on this day. Look for them as they capture on canvas the cityscapes, historic districts, and surrounding mountain vistas.

Oct, 2, 6 to 9 p.m.: Enjoy San Luis Obispo’s award-winning Farmers’ Market. Street vendors display mounds of fresh produce, delicious foods, and there’s entertainment.

Oct. 3, 6 to 9 p.m.: Get a free preview of the Festival’s Exhibition during the city’s Art After Dark gallery walk.

Oct. 4, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.: The Quick Draw art challenge takes place in the block around the Art Center and the historic Old Mission Plaza. Watch as Festival artists race to complete a painting in two hours, frame it, and put it on display.

Oct. 4, noon to 2 p.m.: Live Auction of Quick Draw artwork will be held in Mission Plaza’s amphitheater. Buy brand-new, wet, and wonderful works by your favorite plein air artists right off the easel.

The Festival Exhibition is on public view at the Art Center on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 .pm. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.

Oct. 4, 6 to 9 p.m. The Festival Exhibition and Gala at the San Luis Obispo Art Center features the three top works by each artist completed during the Festival. Meet the internationally recognized plein air artists. An elegant buffet of California cuisine with fine local wines will be catered by NOVO. Gala tickets: $50 per person. Sale of artwork benefits the artists and the Art Center’s exhibition and education programs.

Oct, 5, 10 to 4 p.m.: Last chance to view and purchase Festival paintings on exhibit in the Art Center. Free admission. Artists Daniel Aidana, Nancy Becker, Jill Carver, Po Pin Lin, and many more will participate.
