Marty Tracey is back to work after three months of paid administrative leave with a change in duties and a new title: redevelopment specialist.

 In November, the Atascadero City Council asked for Tracey’s resignation due to allegations that he threatened downtown property owners Pat and Sue Gaughan with eminent domain litigation if they refused to sell their property (“Threats, Lies and Audiotape,� New Times, October 27,2005). A week later, the council revoked its earlier decision due to improper noticing and reinstated Tracey, who was placed on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation.

 City officials have not released the results of the investigation to the public or the city council. “I didn’t know Tracey was back,� says Atascadero City Council member George Luna. “I asked, ‘What the hell is he doing here?’�

 Atascadero city attorney Patrick Enright would not comment on the results of the investigation or whether Tracey was penalized. He did say Tracey has the right to appeal and the process can take months. ∆
