A local high school teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after he was arrested Nov. 11.
Walt Vickrey, a teacher at Coast Union High School in Cambria, was arrested at his home in Atascadero on suspicion of felony counts of spousal rape, oral copulation, and intimidation of a witness, as well as a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery, the Atascadero Police Department confirmed.
As of Nov. 22, Vickrey was no longer in custody in San Luis Obispo County Jail, according to the jail’s website.
A 2010-11 Coast Unified School District staff directory listed Vickrey as a business support services instructor with the high school.
Calls to Coast Union High School were referred to the Coast Union School District. Superintendent Chris Adams said he was aware of Vickrey’s arrest, and told New Times Vickrey has been placed on paid administrative leave pending potential charges from the District Attorney’s Office.
According to District Attorney spokesman Jerret Gran, prosecutors hadn’t received recommended charges from the arresting agency as of press time.
Vickrey couldn’t be reached for comment as of press time.
