Censorship backfires

Morro Bay

I would like to address the parents of our county who didn't want their children to hear President Obama’s speech to students because of it's possible political content.

From what I have read and observed, parents have a greater influence on their children than he ever will because they will spend more time conveying values and political ideology to them. Americans have the privilege to make decisions about politics, spirituality, the economy, and values. If parents tell their children why they believe as they do, their personal experiences and intuition will count more than the president’s advice. I hope parents will encourage their children to listen to points of view other than theirs.

The president’s speech was mostly about taking advantage of education. It seemed pretty free from a liberal or conservative point of view: I can't see how the president had a strong political agenda
