Cuesta students, there’s no denying that there’s a lot of uncertainty about the future of your college, including which programs will be cut and whether the college will survive the giant accreditation question mark lingering over your head like the darkest of clouds. But it wouldn’t do to allow this uncertainty to prevent you from continuing to plan for your future. And that means preparing to register for classes for Cuesta’s spring semester, which runs Jan. 22 to May 24.

You’ll find everything under the sun, from wellness to welding, oceanography to medical assisting, journalism to interior design, drama to culinary arts. Depending on the outcome of the Dec. 12 Board of Trustees meeting, some of these programs may no longer be available in the near future, so be sure to get your fill while they’re still around!

Priority registration begins Nov. 28, and registration for new students will start on Dec. 17. Enrollment fees are $46 per unit.

If you’re looking for some relief from the stress of fighting for classes and pressure to eat leftover turkey until the buttons on your fat pants pop, shooting across the table at your wheelchair-bound grandmother, pay a visit to Cuesta College drama department’s production of The Snow Queen. While the production is an adaptation of a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, director Philip Valle is creating a cyber set, making use of a half-dozen screens with projected video images. The production takes place at the still-pretty-darned-new Cultural and Performing Arts Center, beginning Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., Dec. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for students and seniors and $15 general admission.
