Daydreaming of an afternoon, Spanish-style dinner and movie date with a loved one? Whether it’s time or money that’s stopping you, get your fix by taking advantage of Luna Red and the Palm Theatre’s, Date Night Deal.
The deal gives any couple two free Palm Theatre movie passes, with the purchase of four different tapas, small Spanish-style appetizer plates, for just $48 total every Monday through Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
According to Luna Red, the Date Night Deal has its own menu, making 16 different options available from their menu, tapas-style, including their black bean, rice,
and avocado fritters dazzled in paprika salt and lime crema; their piquillo peppers stuffed with herbed goat cheese drizzled with basil oil and a red wine reduction; or their manila clams—chorizo pilsner, garlic, green onion, tomato,
chili flake, and lime.
If it’s a romantic date, order up some healthy spice roasted beets (arugula and an herbed goat cheese mousse, with
chili-walnut honeycomb, and citrus coulis) before heading off to see The Face of Love, the new release directed by Arie Posin, that is part psychological-drama and part rom-com.
Or maybe you’re just looking to have a night out with a fried? Order their calamari, which is lightly fried and tossed in sambal aioli honey, piquillo peppers, cilantro, and lime, and share a small plate of local spuds—crispy heirloom potatoes with marinated olives, and sambal aioli—and then go watch the new Wes Anderson flick, The Grand Budapest Hotel, which is playing at least three times daily at the Palm right now.
The Date Night Deal is an excuse to take an afternoon off and go hang out on Luna Red’s outdoor patio. Snack down in their unique ambiance, a global-local fusion of Spanish afternoons in the San Luis Obispo Mission Plaza, and spend a night under the big screen. And if there are no movies playing at the Palm right now that you have any interest in seeing, then wait to take an afternoon off once they do—next week they’re showing Le Week-End, a smart comedy by the English director Roger Michell that got 90 percent review on Rotten Tomatoes.
