Broughton Hospitality has completed renovations and opened for business at the Morgan Hotel, in what once was San Simeon’s Orchid Inn.

Named for Heart Castle architect Julia Morgan, the hotel was revamped to reflect her style with furnishings and artwork that recall the architect’s aesthetic. The hotel features recreations of Morgan’s original drawings and artwork.

“When we first purchased the property, we visited Hearst Castle and were struck by the depth and beauty of Julia’s work,” said Larry Broughton, President and CEO of Broughton Hospitality. “We later discovered that she was one of California’s first female architects, who completed over 700 projects in her lifetime. With the Morgan, we wanted to make people aware of her achievements and pay tribute to the role she played in the creation of one of California’s true masterpieces.” Information on the Morgan Hotel can be found by visiting
