Get your hands dirty, in a good way! The San Gabriel Elementary School in Atascadero will be hosting Garden Work Day on Saturday, November 15. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend one of two 3-hour work sessions and work alongside three certified landscape and gardening professionals to create a garden that will provide continuous educational opportunities for students. Celebrate Thanksgiving with live music, arts, crafts, food, and fun at the 2008 Lopez Lake Turkey Festival. Friends of Lopez Lake and County Parks invite individuals and families to enjoy the fall season and turkey wildlife at beautiful Lopez Lake. You can make a difference! Habitat for Humanity of San Luis Obispo County (HFHSLOCO) has been approved to build four homes within the City of Grover Beach in 2009 for qualified, very- low-income families. Using donations of funding, materials, professional services, and volunteer labor, HFHSLOCO has built simple, decent housing in Paso Robles and Cambria, with four homes to be completed in Atascadero in December.
