Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center will host a free flu vaccine clinic on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8 to 11 a.m. It will be held in the center’s auditorium at 1010 Murray Ave., SLO. High-risk individuals will be given vaccinations first; the remainder will be given on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. High-risk people include those older than 50, people with a chronic illness, or women in the second or third trimester of pregnancy. Avila Beach Golf Resort will host a golf fundraiser and luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds will go toward medical expenses for Daniel Seymour, an Atascadero disk jockey who was recently diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. The cost of the event is $150, which includes 18 holes of scramble-format golf, a barbecue lunch, and live music. There will also be a silent auction to raise funds for the Daniel Seymour Benefit account at Rabobank. Donations can be made at any Rabobank office. To reach the event take the Avila Beach exit off Highway 101 and follow posted signs to the resort.
