Cal Poly senior Mark Stablein made a short film that will be playing at the Palm Theatre. A senior Art and Design Photography major, Stablein describes his 12-minute short, The Lost Day, as “a psychological mystery thriller heavily inspired by the films of David Lynch.” Stablein’s project began in Professor Douglas Keesey’s Film Directors class and became a full-on production. The premier is open to the public and is taking place on Sunday, June 8 at 11 a.m.

The Senior Wheels USA Program is making power wheelchairs available to qualified senior citizens at no cost to the recipient. Power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet additional guidelines of the program. Coalition, a downtown skate, fashion, and art shop, is having its grand opening Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be free gifts from RVCA, Etnies, Emerica and more all day. Preparations for the second annual Great Pumpkin Contest are underway. Four hundred sprouts will be handed out by the San Luis Obispo County Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee on June 14 at the 4-H Field Day at the Paso Robles Events Center.
