Chino’s Rock & Tacos, at 892 Marsh Street in SLO, will be donating all of its proceeds from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, to the family of John Francis Murphy, a Cal Poly junior who was seriously injured in an automobile accident, and remains in critical condition. Meet, greet, and eat! The California Welcome Center in Pismo Beach is looking for “ambassador” volunteers to man the Prime Outlets Complex in that city. The Welcome Center is open seven days a week and has shifts available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. People who know the area, like to chat, and would like to help Pismo Beach visitors are invited to apply. The Humane Society of the United States is hosting a forum on Friday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon in the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors Chambers at 1055 Monterey Street, to discuss Proposition 2, The Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act. Humane Society President and CEO Wayne Pacelle will speak, and a dialogue will be held between proponents and opponents. Supporters of the proposition are urged to attend and voice their opinions, or just come to listen and receive information.
