The California Coastal Commission will host the 22nd Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon. Last year, an estimated 52,000 volunteers across the state removed almost 1 million pounds of debris from California beaches the best turnout in the entire coastal cleanup history.
The Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo County (ECOSLO) is coordinating the local cleanup and has already announced beach captains for 26 different clean-up sites. Volunteers are encouraged to contact Logistics Coordinator Patrick Kirby at 544-1777 or visit www.ecoslo.org for a list of clean-up sites and details about the celebration at Pismo Pier from 12:30 to 4 p.m. ?
