Tanner Jack’s, a premier barbecue-sauce company for 20 years, continues its tradition of excellence with the opening of a new steakhouse at the corner of Highway 1 and Halcyon Road on the Mesa in Arroyo Grande.

“We have cookin’ with a smoking attitude,� said Jack Stevens, co-owner of Tanner Jack’s. “We infuse the meats with seasoning and then smoke the ribs and steaks slow and long, glaze with Tanner Jack’s barbecue sauce, and finish over a wood-fired grill.�

Tanner Jack’s will hold its grand-opening celebration on July 22 from noon to 5 p.m. with an old-fashioned pig and corn roast. DJ Hardy’s Country Rock Band will provide entertainment, and each business in the Craig Center will offer raffle tickets with prizes announced throughout the day. Buy a chance to win a sporty Pontiac Solstice convertible and support Options, a local nonprofit organization with a focus on helping individuals with developmental disabilities to become valuable members of the community. Options is holding a raffle for the black convertible—viewable at San Luis Obispo Farmers’ Market July 20 through August 24—to help support Options’ services, which include vocational training, residential services, one-on-one job coaching, and rehabilitation.

“Pretty much all of our clients are low-income, and government funding has been frozen since 2002,� said Lisa Hersch, Options’ public affairs manager. “The drawing will help us provide new roofs for two of our residential facilities and some extras that are needed.�

Tickets are $100 each, and only 1,000 will be sold. The winning ticket will be drawn and announced at the Avila Beach Music Festival on Sept. 30, during a concert featuring Emmylou Harris.
