Local anesthesiologist and past president of the San Luis Obispo County Medical Society, Stephen Mulder, recently founded a nonprofit organization called New Choices Integrative Health. Dedicated to educating people about the significance of nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices in an integrative approach to health, Mulder hopes that this organization will help people identify the link between diet and diseases like cancer and make healthy decisions for themselves.
As part of its campaign to promote healthy lifestyles, New Choices Integrative Health is presenting Shutting Down Cancer, a series of speakers with experience in lifestyle intervention, environmental responsibility, and health activism. The series' first speaker will be cancer survivor and best-selling author Howard Lyman, who is now president of Voice for a Viable Future. He will be speaking at the PAC on Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. Tickets for the event cost between $10 and $45 and are available at pacslo.org or by calling 756-2787.
