Get the county and state out of the Paso water basin

Congratulations to the 75 percent of voters in the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin who were smart enough to see through the attempted special interest water and power grab in the March 8 election! Now, the SLO County Board of Supervisors needs to do what they have been elected and paid to do: Properly manage the water basin. Here’s how they should start: Quit claiming all potential county rights to that water, then immediately lobby the state to stop the unbridled growth and development of cities and community service districts along the Salinas River. If there is not enough water to grow crops on agricultural land (as the real estate development proponents claim), then there sure as heck is not enough water to keep building more housing tracts and increasing the local population.
