Dan Gilmore has officially resigned from the Los Osos Community Services District.

The district’s Board of Directors accepted Gilmore’s resignation at its Jan. 31 meeting, according to a district press release. Francis “Mitch” Cooney has been selected to fill the job on an interim basis.

The district officially appointed Cooney as its interim general manager at a Feb. 2 special meeting and approved an employment contract. Cooney will make $3,250 per month to act as general manager on a part-time basis. He will not receive benefits, according to the district.

Gilmore took the general manager job in November 2009 and was making a salary of $90,000 at the time of his resignation. In fact, Cooney served as interim general manager before Gilmore took over the job fulltime.

Cooney filled the gap after the CSD’s previous general manager, John Schempf, left the job in February 2009 and took another position in Maine where he made $30,000 less pay per year.
