Gravel won out as drought tolerant landscape

I think everyone is interested in how to landscape around their home due to the drought. We received several bids for artificial turf, but we were surprised by how expensive it was. Then we thought about replacing our lawn with cactus and other succulents, but we didn’t think a “Southwestern” theme fit in with our Victorian house. So we decided on using bender board and different colors of gravel to create a design in our front yard. We found this to be complementary to our home’s style, and of course, completely drought tolerant!

Now we are looking for pet friendly ideas to replace the lawn in our back yard!
