Shiver me timbers! Kraken Coffee Co. will soon open for business at 310 Front St. in Avila Beach. Created by the minds who brought you the popular Kreuzeberg Coffee Co., this cozy coastal outpost will serve up baked goods and third wave caffeine brewed with the strength of a salty sea monster (follow on Facebook for updates) ... Dogfish Head Brewing, the official beer of National Record Store Day, will take over the taps at SLO's Luis Wine Bar this April 20. Head to the beer and wine lounge for a libation and enjoy a Record Store Day pre-party that will have you spinning right round like a record, baby (and don't forget to hit Boo Boo Records on April 22 for the annual shindig featuring a smorgasbord of tasty local bands).

Granada Hotel and Bistro in SLO recently unleashed its new spring menu full of bright greens, crunchy veggies, and herby sauces ... Break out the sun hat: Biddle Ranch Winery in Edna Valley will begin hosting some solid outdoor live music lineups during its First Thursdays events, held the first week of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. and beginning May 4 with local outfit Bear Market Riot ... Mistura in Paso Robles is serving up super fresh Peruvian cuisine—like seabass tiradito and alpaca carpaccio—plated with an artful eye.

Estuary enthusiasts, eat on: Keep Morro Bay clean (and gobble up sweet treats while doing so). Indulge your dessert desires by purchasing locally made confections from Treat SLO this month, and a portion of those proceeds will go back to the bay. The otters thank you in advance! ... Bow wow wonderful: Ubatuba Acai at 785 Marsh St. in SLO will host a fundraiser for Woods Humane Society this April 23 with half the day's sales going to the dog and cat sanctuary ...
