Great article by James Duenow on the Three Amigos and their last act (“Amigos, spare us your Last Hurrah,” Dec. 11). Only it was not their last act; the drama continues. Around 5 p.m., when it looked like their agenda was going to go into the wee hours of the morning, the Three Amigos stood linked together until they were given a “special session” for their friends.
The outrage is that they have the gall to create a special session this Friday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. and not suspend discussions until the next regularly scheduled meeting, which will occur in January. This extraordinary session puts the burden on staff and the public to rearrange priorities and schedules just to appease the developer’s interests. “ ‘Tis the Season,” we all want to be spending time with friends, co-workers, and family, not traipsing down to the County Government Center once again just to plead for the board to listen to its planning staff, legal staff, and its appointed Planning Commission. Hopefully this is the last chapter in the “best democracy money can buy”.
