It's just business?

KVEC, your station’s infatuation with Beck and Rush has driven me away from all your shows, even the beloved Congalton show.

You’ve heard our comments; yours boil down to “It’s just business.” That’s what the mafia says when they shoot your dad: “it’s just business.” If you have any integrity and intelligence, you will cease giving these two maniacs airtime.

Do you actually believe their rants? Do you think they add anything to our social landscape? Do you think the hate, lies, and idiocy are worth putting out over the airwaves, my airwaves? If you say yes to any of these questions, then I am lost. If not, then is there anything you won’t do for money?

You know as well as I do these two characters have many followers, generally ignorant cretins who, in idolizing the hate and lies, create much havoc in our social and political environment. You are part and parcel of that polarization in our country. You can take a stand for civil discourse. You could, but will you? Have you heard of the Golden Rule? Can you tell right from wrong?

Let me end with my favorite quote, from Martin Luther King, Jr.; maybe it will sing to you as it does me:

Cowardice asks the question; is it safe?

Expediency asks the question; is it politic?

Vanity asks the question; is it popular?

But conscience asks the question, is it right?

There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because his conscience tells him it is right.
