On March 6, Bruce Ambo, director of public services for the City of Morro Bay, announced that the joint Morro Bay-Cayucos Sanitary District meeting originally tentatively scheduled for March 15 will be postponed until April.

According to a news release from Ambo, the postponement will give the city and district staff more time to identify and resolve important issues related to the design and financing of a treatment plant upgrade.

"We're wanting to make sure that we have fully analyzed all the alternatives, because this is a critical step," Ambo said in an interview.

The new meeting date will likely be April 12, at a location to be announced. The joint meetings rotate between locations in Morro Bay and Cayucos.

The city and the district are partners in the ownership and operation of the treatment plant in Morro Bay.

The release noted that the April meeting will be publicly noticed in advance because of the Brown Act. Staff will also prepare a report for the elected officials' consideration.

"We're actually still slightly ahead of schedule, so I'd rather do the right thing than do a meeting with not enough information," Ambo concluded.

For more information, call 772-6261 or the treatment plant at 772-6272.
