While one opinion page contributor was bragging about how proud he was to be liberal because they’re so tolerant, compassionate, and care so much about people, I was wondering: Why, then, all the hostility, hatred, and rage directed toward conservatives?
Liberals don’t have a problem with multiculturalism, illegal immigrants who refuse to assimilate, Muslims who want to build a mosque at Ground Zero, candlelight vigils for serial killers, or 30-day sentences for child rapists. So why the vicious attacks against conservatives simply because they dare to speak out?
Researchers call those who become infuriated when others don’t agree with their way of thinking “ragers.” Ragers’ thoughts tend to be “overly negative, over-generalized, and blown out of proportion.” In short, these are the types of people who make movies about assassinating Bush, tell Rush to slit his throat, and try to blame Sarah Palin, the TEA Party, and conservative talk show hosts for the Tucson massacre.
I suspect that just as liberals don’t love the environment as much as they resent its human inhabitants, they don’t care about people as much as they want to control them. They live to tell others how to think, what to say, what to eat, and what light bulbs to use because it makes them feel good to think they’re saving the planet.
Meanwhile, they need to pick up their greenie toys, get out of the sandbox, and someday grow up to be responsible adults who believe in restraint, civility, and the greatness of America.
