We have to grow our way out of the economic recession! Nobody would argue with that. We need to create jobs! Nobody would argue with that either. Do we do it by expanding the economic engine we have and allowing the millionaires and billionaires to continue what they do and hope a few more jobs are spit out? The only way that works is if the population continues to grow so there are more good little consumers to buy more stuff. That is unsustainable.
The world population doubled in the last 50 years and will double again soon. How many more doublings can the Earth handle? Or are we counting on world cataclysm to solve our problem? We need an economy based on needs, not wants. The world needs a new source of energy, to feed the starving, to educate the uneducated, to house the unhoused, to comfort the comfortless, to bring peace where there is hatred.
We can do it if we want.
