Meaningful art and volunteer opportunities


There is always a handful of artistic events that fill two purposes: to bring awareness, and to enrich or entertain.


Award-winning film screening calls attention to A.L.S., commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS Film Fund presents Indestructible, an award-winning documentary that follows film maker Ben Byer, friends, and family through his courageous experience with ALS. Oct. 16. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the film starting at 7 p.m. Friday on Oct. 16. All proceeds go to  support the ALS Film Fund and local ALS organizations. The Art of Chair-Ity happens for the rest of October with a special reception on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. This one of a kind art event is presented by the Friends of the Atascadero Library Expansion Campaign. Members invite you to join them on Oct. 24 at for their benefit gala featuring more than 25 artists who have donated their creative talents resulting in one-of-a-kind art chairs that creatively illustrate or portray a story of the artists’ choosing. Volunteers are needed at the SLO Little Theatre.
