Founded in 2001, Niner Wine Estates is dedicated to making the highest quality wines possible in the Paso Robles appellation, using only estate-grown fruit. With its desirable soils, ample water in many areas, and growing conditions almost identical to Napa Valley, Paso Robles presented a unique opportunity for owners Dick and Pam Niner to invest in the wine industry. Niner Wine Estates has grown to encompass two properties representing over 360 acres, and an incredibly talented and hard working team that turns out high-quality wine grapes and premium, hand-crafted, artisan wines. Purchased in 1999 by Dick and Pam Niner, our Bootjack Ranch Vineyard is located nine miles east of the town of Paso Robles, on route 46, and currently boasts 125 planted acres. Varietals include Sauvignon blanc, Barbera, Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition, there are smaller blocks of blenders Malbec, Carmenère, and Petit Verdot. Our Heart Hill Vineyard is located closer to the western edge of the Paso Robles AVA, and is named for a large grove of oak trees that grows in the shape of a heart on the hillside. This estate lies only 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean, making the climate a bit cooler and the growing season even longer. The first 20 acres of vines, to be planted in the spring of 2007, include Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Grenache Blanc. Along with planting the vineyard, we plan to build a beautiful state-of-the-art winery and an inviting tasting room. We hope to have our grand opening in the summer of 2008. Our inaugural vintage was released in January of 2006. Each of these wines was made by winemaker Amanda Cramer from grapes grown on our Bootjack Ranch estate vineyard in Paso Robles. Currently in the bottle are Sauvignon Blanc, Barbera Rosato, Barbera, Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a red Bordeaux blend called Fogcatcher.
