Do you enjoy chaos, conflict, and a colossal challenge? If you live in Oceano, have thick skin, and have your Wednesdays open, there may be a job opening up just for you. The Oceano Community Services District is looking for two residents who would like to help run the small entity.
The vacancies came after board president Jim Hill and board member Carole Henson resigned on March 28. They both cited deteriorating relations with General Manager Raffaele F. Montemurro as the reason for their sudden and unexpected departure.
At a hastily called meeting on the evening of April 3, the board of directors voted to appoint two new members rather than send the choice to the people of Oceano in an election. An election would have cost $22,400 to $34,000, according to estimates by the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s Office—too high a cost for the small town to pay, said the three directors.
The board is scheduled to pick new members at its May 11 meeting.
