San Luis Obispo’s Granada Hotel and Bistro has recently announced Art Bar, an evening of creativity, booze, and camaraderie.
Held at Granada on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 7-9 p.m., Art Bar consists of a painting class led by a local artist, who selects a work of his or her own and teaches patrons how to replicate it, step by step. The $40 fee includes a glass of wine and art supplies. Wine, cheese, beer, and charcuterie are also available for purchase throughout the workshop.
Resident artists include sculptor and oil landscape painter Eric Soderquist, author of The California Surf Project; mixed media and watercolor artist Brianna Deveraux, and graphic designer Hillary Amborn.
Upcoming Art Bar evenings are as follows:
Thursday, Aug. 29: Mixed Media Figures with Brianna Deveraux
Friday, Aug. 30: Mixed Media Techniques with Brianna Deveraux
Saturday, Aug. 31: Big Sur Poppies with Eric Soderquist.
Attendees are encouraged to sign up in advance at artbarslo.com, and arrive 15 minutes early to get set up. Art Bar provides aprons, but messy artists are encouraged to wear something they wouldn’t mind spilling a little paint on.
The Art Bar also facilitates off-site events as well. A “PopUp Art Bar” brings the experience to you, arriving with a “Gipsy Caravan” stocked with all the necessary ingredients. Customers are also allowed to select the painting to be featured from the Art Bar’s collection.
