I live in Paso Robles, work in San Luis Obispo, and take a RideShare van that picks up and lets off at Walmart in Paso Robles. I recently returned to my car to find a $30 parking ticket issued by Paso Robles Police. They like to ticket cars parked there that are for sale and yes, my car is for sale but I drive there Monday through Thursday to park and ride. My car is not left there overnight. The police should check whether car owners are commuters before writing tickets.
I called the police and was told Walmart complains to them and asks them to ticket (it is a private parking lot therefore PD can’t just come ticket). I phoned Walmart and spoke with an assistant manager who emphasized they do not call the Paso Robles police.
Wouldn’t the nice thing to do be to call the number on a for-sale sign and warn people not to park there? It’s not as though there are tons of cars there for sale. But no: gotta get that quota of tickets filled!
