There may be some confusion due to the recent closing of a store with a similar name, but New Times wants to help set the record straight.

- BEST FOR BEASTS : Tails Pet Boutique on Higuera Street in downtown SLO can help you find a loving pet--and then outfit it with furry fashions.
# Tails Pet Boutique in San Luis Obispo is still open and is still providing Central Coast animal owners with high-quality pet foods and supplies. In fact, the full-service dog and cat pet store--located at 745 Higuera St.--recently celebrated its ninth anniversary.
In addition to offering animal-related products, Tails Pet Boutique has continued its cat and kitten adoption partnership with SLO County's Animal Services. The store has recently helped find homes for more than 200 stray cats that would have otherwise been killed.
"They warm my heart," store owner Terry Treves said of the animals her store caters to. "They have so much joy, and they just love unconditionally."
Treves, who also owns Fanny Wrappers in downtown SLO, got the motivation to open the animal-inspired store more than 10 years ago when she rescued a lost puppy that was trapped in a road divider in Grover Beach.
She started bringing the young border collie mix, Cleo, to the lingerie store in an attempt to find someone to adopt her. But as time went on, Treves developed a special bond with the pup. She ultimately decided to keep the dog--and to try her hand at selling collars and pet food instead of just bras and panties.
Nearly a decade later, the pet boutique business is in full swing. The store now carries a full selection of dog and cat treats--such as turkey and beef jerky and holiday cookies made with granola and filled with blueberries and bananas. The boutique also carries dog beds, doghouses, and a large selection of doggie clothes in all shapes, styles, and sizes.
Stop by and get help adopting a cat, purchase some nutritious pet food, or find a new outfit for your four-legged friend.
Tails Pet Boutique is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 544-PETS.
