Project Amend

On Oct. 15, Project Amend, Inc. was forced to close its doors. Since 1999, P.A. had operated as a sober living facility and served the recovery needs of scores of SLO County men. In November 2008, after so many years of trying, P.A. was able to obtain state licensing to provide residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. During the time Project Amend was in operation as a licensed residential treatment facility, it was the only such facility in San Luis Obispo.

Over the years, New Times ran several articles on Project Amend and helped to create an awareness of the work being done there. I want to take this opportunity to thank the writing and editorial staff for their efforts. It has been very effective and greatly appreciated. Also, Project Amend was able to survive as long as it did only due to the support of the citizens of this county. Many people contributed their time, financial resources, and services to help Project Amend in its efforts to fight the good fight against the disease of addiction. Thank you all so much.
