Love at first sip—that’s how much I liked this delicious white from winemaker Bob Lindquist. A longtime favorite on the Central Coast, his brand is best known for Syrah, but he makes an excellent Chardonnay. His most popular of the three Chardonnays he makes, it’s whole-cluster pressed and barrel-fermented in 25 percent new French oak, and it undergoes 100-percent malolactic fermentation. But the oak doesn’t take anything away from the tangy apple and pretty pear aromas and mineral flavors that are nicely offset by zingy citrus notes. Quite balanced, it ends on a lingering note of fruit and spice. It’s a wonderful choice for Dungeness crab or lobster with buttery sauces, seafood salads, roasted poultry, salmon cakes, or a rich bowl of clam chowder. It’s available at Central Coast Wines in SLO for $20 retail.
