Regarding those downtown SLO city blocks

San Luis Obispo

The City Council doesn’t have a clue on what it is doing! There is absolutely no need to improve on what is not broken. SLO has higher rent than Santa Barbara already, and this will only drive the cost higher. If I wanted to live in a city like Santa Barbara, I’d move!

Do the council members balance their own checkbooks? Do they spend more than they earn? Why put this city in debt over a sidewalk when those funds should be funneled elsewhere, i.e., how about the “homeless shelters,” library, or educational opportunities outside the school system instead of a stupid sidewalk (“SLO City Council spends big on two blocks of downtown,” Nov. 17).

Did they “poll” the merchants who pay the rent on Higuera or just take it for granted that they want new sidewalks?

So “put that in your pipe and smoke it,” and maybe some members of the City Council will understand exactly what I mean.

It isn’t about what you (City Council members) want, it is what “we the people” of SLO want. I can’t attend meetings for health reasons, so here’s my take on the situation. Get a life, council members, and get off your high horse for the betterment, not the debt-tri-ment of SLO-town.
