Riedman's got my vote

Kathy Riedman's “Assigning Blame” (March 16) is uber-excellent, covering every inch of the road to hell Garbage Dump Trump has us on, with all the right, common sense questions. If she decides to run for anything, she’s got my vote! But why did Trump get so many of ours (excluding yours truly)? Because people persist in worshiping at the double altars of money and media fame. Give a listen to the tune “Razzle Dazzle” from the musical Chicago. One lyric in particular—referring to the vast multitudes—says it all: “How can they see with sequins in their eyes?”

I truly thought this nation had evolved beyond swallowing a snake oil salesman’s brew, but obviously not. The good ol’ white boys club thrives on fear and hatred like maggots on a pile of dung. Every good and decent thing that Barack H. Obama has done constitutes a target for their sinister “whitelash” activity.

Well, the sleeping giant is at long last awakening, and, like patriotically concerned Riedman, I hope with an anxious heart that it proves to be in time. Take Trump down by impeachment or any means necessary. He who so tellingly evokes Hitler, Mussolini, and Amin at the introit of their twisted careers must be disposed of.

Today, it’s about mass deportations and building a wall; tomorrow, it could well be vanishing persons, torture, and firing squads, making Guantanamo look like a Sunday in the park. Tea Party Pence will be no picnic but at least he more resembles a rational human being, rather than the xenophobic, paranoid, delusional, misogynistic egomaniac currently polluting the Oval Office.

I beg us all to remember: “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
