Sharing the road goes both ways

comment

Regarding Jeff Weit's letter defending his riding practices ("Share the road," May 12-19): Mr. Weit, you forced a car driving on a rural road into the oncoming lane and you are offended? Your eccentricity surpasses your common sense. There is no room for a bike lane on most rural roads, so riding single file is the only way to share the road. You endangered yourself, your riding partner, and the occupants of that vehicle. The driver cannot enjoy his/her journey when you are impeding traffic.

If you cannot hear a car approaching nor equip yourself with a rearview mirror, I suggest you try another form of recreation. Bike riding in a traffic lane is the same as walking in a traffic lane. Catch a clue or it may be your last ride.
