We don’t want to be too blunt, but April is National Poetry Month! Time to sharpen up those rhyming skills as the San Luis Obispo County libraries are pulling out all the stops to pay homage to all things poetry.

All library branches will have special displays, bookmarks, and rolled poems to hand out.

There will also be numerous free events, including an all-ages poetry open mic night at the Arroyo Grande Library on April 16 at 2 p.m. Art and poetry inspired by the theme of renewal will be featured at the Atascadero Library through May 31. A reception with refreshments will be held for the exhibit on April 7 from
5:30 to 7 p.m.

Poems by current and past poets laureate will be read at the San Luis Obispo Library on April 16 at 2 p.m. Head on down to the San Miguel Library on April 23 at 1 p.m. for a cowboy poetry party complete with refreshments and recorded poetry readings. The Santa Margarita Library will have a community poetry reading complete with a barbecue, raffle, and live music on April 9 at 2 p.m.
